Foundational ontologies meet ontology matching: A survey

نویسندگان

چکیده

Ontology matching is a research area aimed at finding ways to make different ontologies interoperable. Solutions the problem have been proposed from disciplines, including databases, natural language processing, and machine learning. The role of foundational for ontology an important one, as they provide well-founded reference model that can be shared across domains. It multifaceted with room development. This paper presents overview tasks involved in consider ontologies. We discuss strengths weaknesses existing proposals highlight challenges addressed future.

A Survey on Various Ontology Matching Systems

Due to the abundant growth of the semantic web massive amount of heterogeneous data’s are growing enormously. This problem of heterogeneity among the web resources can be resolved using various ontology matching techniques and systems. Ontology matching is a great way of solving the heterogeneity and interoperability issues among the web data’s that use different but related ontologies. Ontolog...

A Meta-ontological Architecture for Foundational Ontologies

In this paper we present and discuss a meta-ontological architecture for ontologies which centers on abstract core ontologies (ACOs). An ACO is the most abstract part of a foundational ontology. It is useful for an ontologically founded description of ontologies themselves, therefore ACOs are lifted to the meta-level. We propose a three-layered metaontological architecture which distinguishes a...

Designing Foundational Ontologies: The Object-Centered High-Level Reference Ontology OCHRE as a Case Study

Foundational ontologies are axiomatic theories about highlevel domain-independent categories of the real world. They constitute toolboxes of eminently reusable information modelling primitives for building application ontologies about specific domains. The design of foundational ontologies confronts the conceptual modeller with completely new challenges in respect of their content as well as th...

Using a Foundational Ontology for Reengineering a Software Process Ontology

During project planning, knowledge about software processes is useful in several situations: software processes are defined, activities are scheduled, and people are allocated to these activities. In this context, standard software processes are used as basis for defining project processes, and tools are used to support scheduling, people allocation, and so on. Ideally, people and tools should ...

Using a Foundational Ontology for Reengineering a Software Enterprise Ontology

The knowledge about software organizations is considerably relevant to software engineers. The use of a common vocabulary for representing the useful knowledge about software organizations involved in software projects is important for several reasons, such as to support knowledge reuse and to allow communication and interoperability between tools. Domain ontologies can be used to define a comm...
